We’ve been wanting to get away from LA for a while now, especially with the heat we had been experiencing. We started looking into heading somewhere up the Coast in search of some nice weather. We decided on Carmel-By-The-Sea for a number of reasons. It was relatively close, it is an incredibly charming destination and it is one of the most dog friendly cities you can find! We also hadn’t been in a few years and we were eager to return. We really had an amazing time, so much so that I wanted to write about our experiences and to give you guys some recommendations of things to do.

There are an abundance of places to stay, like the luxurious L’Auberge Carmel or the adorable Vagabond House Inn where we stayed on our last trip. Both are highly rated but we decided to try someplace new so we picked Le Petit Pali on Ocean. Le Petit Pali actually offer another location just a couple blocks away on 8th Avenue too. Both are new to the area and we love experiencing newer properties, warts and all but for the most part, we enjoyed our stay.

There were a couple of teething issues that come with staying at a new property. Our suite wasn’t ready by the guaranteed check in time and we also found out that the fireplaces weren’t working. But the hotel staff were extremely apologetic and refunded us our resort fee as well as our pet fee. Other than that, we found our stay to be very comfy and the amenities were a really nice touch. A French style continental breakfast is served for guests, there is a lovely cocktail/wine social hour in the late afternoon and delicious daily cookies brought to your room every evening. We spent quite a bit of time on the patio chatting with other guests while our dogs all chilled and enjoyed the sun. Like I said, Carmel is extremely dog friendly so nearly every room had a furry guest (or 2) accompanying their humans.

But the best feature of the hotel had to be its location. A 15 minute walk to the beach and surrounded by the best dining options in Carmel. It was so nice being able to walk to our dinners and we have quite a few dining recommendations that I’ll share below this post. Carmel has some amazing restaurants and we even found a great bar for a nightcap! We were very fortunate with the weather. It was sunny and comfortable in the day and nice and cool at night so we were able to dress up when we went out. Freddie and Bruce had so much fun on the dog friendly (of course!) beach and their joy was palpable every time we returned to the hotel for a break.

If you guys are looking for a quick getaway and want to bring your furry best friend along to live their best life. Or maybe you just want to experience the Central Coast beach culture then Carmel-By-The-Sea is the spot for you.

Desert Hills Premium Outlets

The year has zoomed by and would you believe it, we’re flying into Fall! So, I thought it would be the perfect time to share my desert oasis of luxury shopping here on my blog.

Just 90 minutes away from Los Angeles and 20 minutes west of Palm Springs, Desert Hills Premium Outlets is California’s largest luxury outlet destination and home to over 180 stores with discounts as much as 65% off. I’m talking Chloé, Burberry, Prada and more! Plus, you want to talk exclusive? How about Givenchy, Lanvin, Balmain and Loewe? Desert Hills Premium Outlets has the only outlet locations for these brands in the western United States.

My first stop had to be Givenchy because I’ve had my eye on a new bag. The store itself is gorgeous and of course you would expect nothing less. I had a genuine conundrum when it was time to pick what color bag was coming home with me. I had a grey and red one in either arm and to be fair, they both looked amazing but I finally decided on the red because RED is big trend going into this Fall season. But I really don’t think I could have gone wrong either way. I also had to drop into Balmain (Love their bags!!) and Loewe (so many cool and quirky signature pieces). And more stores are opening soon too! Can you believe it, even more choice! David Yurman is opening their first outlet in Southern California, plus Rails and Amiri will be debuting their first and only outlet locations in the world at Desert Hills Premium Outlets. I’ll definitely be coming back for that.

A visit here could turn into a whole day affair so bring some comfy walking shoes and someone to help carry your bags because the selection is enormous and when you consider how many brands you have to choose from, you’re going to have no problem leaving with amazing finds! AMANGIRI

Hi everyone! I know, I know… It’s been quite a while but my blog has always had a special place in my heart and I’ve decided to start posting content here again because of the joy and how much more I can say. And I couldn’t think of anything better to kick this new era off than with a post talking all about one of the most magical trips we’ve ever taken. Read all about our amazing stay at Amangiri from last winter!

Disbelief. That’s what both Reuben and I felt when we clicked “confirm” on our reservation to Amangiri. We were being strategic by going during the off season when the resort was at a lower rate but it was still a healthy chunk of change to say the least! Having said that, we weren’t in a state of disbelief because of how much we had just spent. Instead it was because this was a trip that we’ve been wanting to take for so many years and now that it had been booked, we couldn’t imagine that we were finally bound for this amazing resort! But the purpose of this post isn’t simply just to gush. We really went with an open mind but were honestly skeptical that it would justify all the hype, Did it for us? Read on to find out.

First the nitty gritty details of how to get to the resort. We chose to drive since we had the pups with us and also because it’s such a similar route we had taken many times before on our way to Dunton, we were seasoned on what to expect. Of course, you can choose to fly into Paige or one of the larger regional airports and rent a vehicle or ask the resort to take care of your arrival and departure arrangements but if driving is an option, we really recommend that. The scenery is gorgeous, especially once you’re north of Las Vegas. If this is your first drive, I would suggest a day stop-over in Vegas so you’re getting to Amangiri fresh.

I remember thinking how much I loved the aesthetic, as we got a close up look at the property. It’s no surprise that just about every inch of this beautiful resort has been featured on media, both Social and Mainstream for years now, But it really is something else when you see it for yourself. The design of the property is a minimalist’s dream with the delightfully subtle hints of luxury and decor influenced by the indigenous people native to the area. Indeed, I’ll let my imagery speak for itself but I am not ashamed to say that it still pales in comparison to the real thing!

The resort is all inclusive so your dining and non alcoholic beverages are included but unfortunately due to Utah law, alcoholic beverages are not. I will say though that the delicious cocktails are worth every dollar! The chefs and service staff are incredibly attentive and receptive to your requests. And the amazing treatment wasn’t just focused on us humans. Indeed our furry little stowaways also got in on the act with custom pup meals filled with nutritious and fresh ingredients.

There are numerous activities that are on offer that take you away from the property and into the surrounding areas like the Slot Canyon (we did a guided personal tour) and Lake Powell (another personal guided tour, this time on a boat). Were they worth the money? For us, definitely yes. Antelope Canyon was a hike we’ve been wanting to do for so long and to get to experience a few of the absolutely stunning canyons away from the crowds was an amazing privilege. We did Lake Powell early in the morning with the waters calm and no boat traffic stirring, the water was a mirror to the sky. It was both a surreal experience of beauty and stark reminder as we saw how low the water line was getting. But should you choose to forego these experiences and stick to the activities contained within Amangiri itself (of which there are many), I would not blame you. Not to say that we didn’t love our guided experiences, quite the contrary. But the resort has so much to offer already that should we be lucky enough to return, we would definitely be exploring those onsite options.

Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t talk about our dining experience at the resort which was a definite highlight of our stay. Your options for dining are very diverse with a set menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner available at the restaurant or if you want to dine in your suite, that choice is always available as well. The staff will make you anything you wish if you don’t see anything you like on the menu as long they have the ingredients on hand and we had an absolutely delicious dinner there on our first evening where they so graciously made us half servings so we could order different items on the menu. Yes, they turned our meal into a tasting experience just for us! But wait, there’s more. I highly recommend having a dinner or two at the restaurant in Camp Sarika, the luxury tented property that is attached to Aman. The menu is changed every night and we really love dining experiences like that so we ended up having the rest of our dinners there. The culinary team led by Chef Young Choi really strives for excellence and we tasted that with every delicious bite. We were so well looked after by the fun and personable Shawn and Brady as well so we always had a cocktail in hand and a smile on our faces!

So in conclusion, I guess I have to answer the question if the resort was worth the hype for us. Well, yes it is. But not for the reasons that you might think. You see, it’s not just the beautiful location or the stunning architecture or the luxurious suite. The amazing amenities and a breathtaking pool. Yes, those things definitely help. But it’s the people who made our stay simply excellent. People like Chef Young and Shawn and Brady. People like Shannon, our experience advisor who helped plan our guided tours. Every staff member who passed and greeted us with a smile and asked if we needed anything. So yes, the beauty and serenity of the resort is worth the trip but the people make it worth the stay. So if you are thinking about it, I’d say go for it and let the resort transport you to another planet where your every need is anticipated and your worries melt away.

Hey everyone, its certainly been a while! Don’t want to go too much into it but 2020 wasn’t exactly fabulous so let’s just leave it behind us. I am for sure looking and feeling more positive about 2021, so really striving to write and share more on here. If you are reading this, you know I am deeply grateful for your continued support.

I AM HOPEFUL

Hey guys, it’s been a while. So much has happened since the last time I blogged. The Covid-19 Pandemic changed our world so much and so quickly. Things we took for granted like going out for a meal, going to the gym or to the beach were all put on hold for a long while. So many people have lost their jobs or businesses, all of us are facing unprecedented challenges.

And in the last few weeks, we have gathered on the streets to appeal for justice. For an end to racial injustice and for all of us to be able to live our lives free of prejudice. In spite of the tremendous personal trials that a lot of people are facing, we are coming together for a greater good. I am inspired, I am hopeful and I believe we will achieve a future that is better than our present circumstances find us in.

I sincerely hope that all of you are safe and in contact with loved ones. I am so fortunate to have Reuben and Freddie with me and we are sending love out to every one of you guys!

PLAYING DRESS-UP WITH FARFETCH

A couple of weeks ago during NYFW, I had the fun opportunity to play dress-up with Farfetch. They rented an amazing townhouse in Manhattan and I had a blast styling just a few of the amazing brands they carry!

Now, I’ve always been a fan of Farfetch. I’ve shopped on their site many times and since it was cold and rainy in New York, I used the weather as an excuse to play with some amazing outerwear pieces. LONG COATS

Long coats will always have space in my closet and a place in my heart. I have a few of them and they are all different. Different in lengths, texture, cuts, patterns, you name it! I just love how they drape and how they make me look so tall!

This one is a new addition from Suistudio, a brand I absolutely adore. They make such amazing suits, coats etc. I’ve worn one of their suits here in a previous post (click on the link and see what I mean!). The brand is a master at creating amazing silhouettes and this coat is no exception. Styled with my go to black tee + mom jeans and pumps, it really elevates an otherwise casual look to a whole other level.

Shirt jackets are now a thing and I LOVE it! So easy to style and the trend just seems so effortless. I got this one from Nordstrom recently and have already worn it twice this week!

I am a huge fan of how versatile this piece is. With just a change of tee and lip color, I get a whole different vibe! I’m going to link a few more shirt jackets below for you guys so you have some options to check out. Also I’d like to highlight my new boot obsession. These are perfectly slouchy and so comfortable. Naturally, highly recommended!

SELF CARE 2020

First post of the year! I hope you guys had a wonderful start to 2020. On our end, we had a really nice and chill holiday season. It was nice to not have any plans, just lounge at home and count down to the New Year.

On a related note, I am one to almost never indulge in self care. This year, I’ve made the decision to pamper myself whenever I can. Giving myself time to work out and to enjoy a facial every other month plus hanging out and having more fun times with my girlfriends. For me, it always seems easier to do all of these things during a slow period/month but when work gets little busier I might lose sight of that. So I have to make the effort to keep that in mind when things get hectic! I’m sure a lot of you guys out there know what I’m talking about. Work and family can take so much out of us that we neglect ourselves.

Although I feel like perhaps on top of sharing countless outfit posts on IG and the blog, maybe I should start documenting my downtime/self care activities a little more and that might get me to take it easy now and then. Do you guys have trouble switching off too?
