The Peninsula is renowned in the exclusive world of luxury hotels. From the very first Peninsula in Hong Kong which opened in 1928, every hotel that bears their name is designed to be the very epitome of excellence.
Any excuse to spend some time in one of our favorite cities is always welcome. But when it’s to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Peninsula Chicago, well then pinch me because I must be dreaming!
The weather was just utterly gorgeous and The Peninsula was certainly basking in the Chicago summer sunshine as we arrived. The staff at The Peninsula are all about ensuring that your stay is as comfortable as possible and it starts from the moment you walk into the beautiful hotel.
Simply put, we fell in love with our suite. The furnishings, the beautiful chrysanthemum themed hand embroidered artwork while the Mister was a huge fan of the technology upgrades that were part of the newly completed renovations. The TVs, climate control and lights are all accessible and control-able under your fingertips thanks to high tech tablets in every room. We loved how easy and intuitive the control surface was to use! And guys, how AMAZING is that bath!?? Day 1 was all about enjoying our suite and we certainly accomplished that!
“The Keys To The City” is all about exclusive insider experiences curated specifically by The Peninsula for guests to enjoy the very best of Chicago culture, attractions and restaurants. One of the options that caught my eye was a tour of Vosges Haut Chocolate because, well duh!!! Chocolate!! We were taken through their entire process from cocoa to delicious chocolate and ended the tour with a tasting of some of their best offerings. We then headed out to Navy Pier to get a bird’s eye view of the Chicago sky line from the famous Navy Pier ferris wheel. Thanks to “Keys To The City”, we had fast pass access and were on board in no time! When we got back to our suite, the John Hancock Center was waiting for us in chocolate form. The Mister was quick enough to snap a pic before I decimated it! 😉 After a quick rest, it was time to get ready for the festivities planned for later that evening.
We were so very lucky to peek behind the scenes before the huge party began. The Peninsula spared no expense to make it a night to remember. The party was filled with delicious food, amazing artistic talent and it was such a pleasure to meet and talk to the people in charge of making the hotel such a great attraction to Chicago visitors and if this is how they celebrate their 15th birthday, we certainly can’t wait for the shindig they are going to throw for their 20th! So thank you Peninsula Chicago, for welcoming us so warmly and giving us so many experiences we will never forget!
