Rhode Island Travel Diary

As you guys know, we were on the East Coast last week. After the usual hustle and bustle of NYC, the Mr and I wanted to take the opportunity for some much needed down time so we decided to drive up to Rhode Island to kick back and relax at The Chanler in Newport.
The hotel itself is so beautiful and perched on a picturesque cliff walk, our views of the water and the coast were stunning as you can see. The clouds were starting to build up so we simply had to take advantage of the beautiful day while it lasted so we snapped a few pics.
In the elegant main hall, we were assisted by the always helpful and knowledgeable Laura who gave us a little bit of background about the storied history of the hotel and the surrounding area.
Every room at The Chanler is decorated according to a theme and our room was inspired by the era during the reign of King George III. We took a walk to stir up our appetite for dinner at a restaurant recommended by Laura and fresh from that long drive from the city, we were grateful for the jovial Jimmy who not only helped us with our bags but drove us to and picked us up from the restaurant in town. We melted into the luxurious bed to end our first day in Newport.

We started off the day bright and early with a delicious and hearty breakfast at the Spiced Pear in the hotel to fuel a long day of exploring the area and checking out the famous mansions.
After a few hours of driving, we decided to head downtown for lunch and a quick shoot.
The day started warming up and we wanted to enjoy more of that fantastic view. When we got back to the room we saw that our friends at Foster Grant sweetly surprised us with the perfect accompaniment.
Dinner on our last night at the Chanler’s Spiced Pear was the perfect way to cap off a long day. We elected for the Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. We were so well looked after by Cole who explained every dish and wine pairing, ably assisted by Thomas. We savored every morsel of the meal which was expertly curated by head chef Thomas Duffy and prepared by the magicians in the kitchen, Quinn, Charlie and Tarci.
But that wasn’t the end of our night. The hotel prepared a romantic scene for us when we got back to our room after that amazing meal. We were greeted by a wonderful sight of rose petals and the lovely scent of lavender. Our relaxing aromatherapy bath was waiting and we were officially spoilt rotten!
We were so relaxed that movie night was cut short as we both fell asleep before the end! The perfect end to a perfect romantic getaway.
We want to thank everyone at the Chanler who looked after us during our time there. You guys were so amazing and made an already fantastic experience even better!
